It is made up of a series of ‘moments’ situated over space and time. Moments can be whatever the participants want them to be – lasting from between 1 hour to half a day. Formats might include talks, presentations, showcases, debates, panel discussions, workshops, interviews, coffee breaks, social moments… whatever is possible with Zoom or other digital means of connecting! We invite participants to propose a format and a theme for a Moment, and to be provocative and experimental with their approach. Proposals should include a title, list of moment proposers, short (150-word) summary, short description of the Moment, description of digital tools to be used (default is Zoom), and practical details (language, time zone, etc.). Can I limit the number of participants for my Moment? We encourage open sessions, but if you have specific reasons for wanting to limit participation please explain this in the appropriate section of the submission form. How will the programme be made? We will attempt to have an initially open and collaborative scheduling process after decisions are made, and to finalize and publish the schedule by August 20. What types of Moments are possible? The sky’s the limit! Some possible formats we could envision include talks, presentations, showcases, debates, panel discussions, workshops, interviews, coffee breaks, or other social moments. We encourage Moment proposers to be creative, and think about how to bring people together to connect and engage in whatever ways are needed right now. Is it possible to have a Moment in a language other than English? Yes! But if hosting a Moment in another language, we encourage organizers to think about how they might work with translation or otherwise enable as many people to participate as possible. There is an item on the submission form for addressing these issues. Do all Moment organizers need to have a Festival pass? Yes! Both Moment hosts and participants need to have Festival passes (either individual or through an institutional pass). What is the Moment documentation and report that is due 1 October? This is something that all Moment organizers will be asked to provide, and should include images giving an impression of the Moment as well as a brief summary and reflection.
